What a fractional CMO does
A fractional CMO is a senior marketer who works part-time in your business. You get the thinking of a chief marketing officer for the days you actually need, not five days a week. In practice I:
- work out who you sell to, what to say and where to spend
- turn that into a plan with clear priorities and numbers to watch
- do the work myself, from websites and landing pages to Google Ads and social ads
- brief and manage other suppliers, such as designers, developers or an agency, when you need them
- report to you in plain English through a live dashboard, and tell you straight what's working
Who it suits
- Businesses with real sales that need senior marketing but can't justify a full-time hire yet
- Founders who are still doing the marketing themselves and are running out of hours
- Teams with a junior marketer or a few suppliers and no one setting the direction
- Businesses that have tried agencies and want one senior person accountable for the result
How it works
We start with a free 30-minute call. If it's a fit, I'll suggest a set number of days a month and give you a fixed monthly quote. The first month is usually about strategy and fixing the basics, like tracking, the website and the offer. After that it's steady execution and monthly reviews. There's no lock-in contract.
Fractional CMO, agency or full-time hire?
- Full-time CMO: the right call once marketing needs a leader every day. It's also the most expensive option.
- Agency: good for volume work across several channels. You usually deal with an account manager rather than the senior person.
- Fractional CMO: senior strategy and execution for the days you need, from the person doing the work.
