Why the right website designer matters
A well-designed site builds trust, explains what you do in seconds and turns visitors into enquiries. A pretty site that doesn't do those things is an online brochure. The best designers understand marketing as well as design.
Five things to look for
- Results over visuals. Ask how their sites perform, not just how they look.
- Hands-on involvement. Are you working with the person doing the work, or a middle layer?
- Platform fit. WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify or something else: they should recommend what suits your business, not their habit.
- Written to sell. Who writes the words? Copy does more of the selling than design.
- Strategic input. Good designers ask why you want something, then help shape the best solution.
Questions to ask before you hire
- Who writes the copy, and how do you learn about my business?
- How many rounds of changes are included?
- Will I be able to update the site myself?
- Who owns the domain, hosting and site files?
- How will the site be set up for Google and for tracking enquiries?

"Through Saku's process and thorough questioning, we were able to make a very complex problem become a very succinct and clear website that is well designed and beautifully written."
